Over the years, thousands of young Americans have devoted themselves to fight to protect the United States. They risk their lives and volunteer their time to defend our nation.
Two of Cardinal Mooney’s own seniors, Cherish Little and Cordell Gregory, took the opportunity to represent our country. “I chose to join the Army Reserve because of the benefits and the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone,” Little said. The U.S Army Reserve offers members opportunities to work or attend college full time, as well as the chance to serve close to home. They also receive the same training as any active-duty soldiers. “I chose the army to better myself and see life in a different perspective,” Gregory said. As their journeys continue, Little will be attending Cleveland State University, and she is majoring in film and media studies. Gregory is undecided about where he will be attending college, but he wants to major in criminal justice. Little was enlisted into the Army in August 2020, just a few weeks before her senior year of high school started. “I felt really nervous at first because it’s a huge commitment, and I still am nervous, so I’m spending almost every day trying to get ready,” Little said. She is not alone during the preparation process. Little said she is blessed with her family’s support. “At first my older sister was against it, but she eventually came around,” Little said. |

Little had inspiration going into the Army considering her step-dad was a Marine and her brother-in-law is currently serving in the Army National Guard.
For Gregory, it was a little different. His biggest supporter is his older brother who is in the Navy. Gregory’s brother has supported him through his journey to make him a better person.
“I feel good about going to the Army Reserve especially since so much is going on,” Gregory said.
Little and Gregory are looked at as strong, brave and respected as they take this next step. they will be furthering themselves and the country, as well as gaining memories. the mooney family is so proud of these two seniors and their accomplishments.
