Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, concerts have been a forgotten part of life. But thanks to the number of cases going down, this forgotten pleasure has made a comeback. Artists are putting their all into each performance, and we finally are getting a piece of normal life back. On Wednesday, Feb. 8, one of the absolute best nights of my life took place. Twas the night of a Billie Eilish concert! |
Sophomore Natalie Filisky and I have been looking forward to this night for months, since the release of the tour schedule. Thanks to an amazing Christmas gift, we were able to get pit seats to see Eilish!
Standing around 20 feet away, being around the other fans, and hearing the blasting music, it was a night neither of us will forget. As Eilish moved through the set list, talked with fans, and used her time in front of us to educate about global warming, the performance seemed flawless.
Filisky said, “Life changing. It left me in what I can only describe as a literal puddle of emotions. She was right there, it didn’t even feel real, I didn’t even feel real, and it was like a 4 hour dream.”
Eilish’s set list included some of her hits, such as “bury a friend,” “my strange addiction,” “ocean eyes,” and “bad guy.” Later into the show, Eilish sang songs from her newest album, “Happier Than Ever,” which also serves as a title to one of her songs. These songs included “NDA,” “Therefore I Am,” “Billie Bossa Nova,” “Your Power,” “Getting Older,” “Lost Cause,” and “my future.”
In the finale, as “Happier Than Ever” began to play, confetti cannons shot out all white confetti. Looking around and seeing so many fans, with tears down my face, it made me realize that while we did miss out on many experiences because of the pandemic, that moments like these should be treasured. Part of our past was taken away from us, but our future is ours to make. So go to that concert and try that new food; in the end, you may end up happier than ever!
