The summer is a very pleasant time to perform outdoor activities. Whether that be swimming, cooking out, or even going for a run, there are many ways to enjoy the summertime. However, there are some events when you will be unable to execute these activities due to blistering heat, pouring rain, extreme humidity, or severe thunderstorms.
When this occurs, people are unaware of what to do, but one option is going to the movies. This would be the perfect idea when the weather is uncooperative because in the summer of 2022, there are some great movies being released. Some of these movies are Elvis (June 24), Minions: The Rise of Gru (June 24), and Thor: Love and Thunder (July 8). Also, in the late spring, movies coming out would include Jurassic World Dominion (June 10) and Lightyear (June 17).
Elvis shows Elvis Presley’s rise to fame in the 1950s while maintaining a complex relationship with his manager. Minions: The Rise of Gru will feature young Gru in the 1970s trying to join a group of supervillains after they remove the leader; when things go unplanned, Gru and his minions go on the run. Thor: Love and Thunder is a film based on the Marvel comics character Thor. It’s intended to be the direct sequel to Thor: Ragnarok. In Jurassic World: Dominion, the future of mankind hangs in the balance as humans and dinosaurs coexist following the destruction of an island. Lightyear will show Buzz Lightyear embarking on an intergalactic adventure with a group of ambitious recruits and his robot companion. |
Sophomore Natalie Filisky said, “I’m very excited to see Thor: Love and Thunder because I truly enjoyed the last Thor movie. So, I’m really excited to see how this one goes.”
Filisky is not the only one looking forward to these summer blockbusters. Sophomore Leah Luchison shared Filisky’s enthusiasm.
“I think one of the movies that families will be eager to see is Minions: The Rise of Gru and Lightyear,” Luchison said. “I’m actually excited to see Lightyear because I’ve grown up with Toy Story, and I would like to see it all tie together.”
On the other hand, sophomore Sydney Howard is looking forward to the biographical choice on this season’s new film list.

Howard said, “I think the most successful movie this summer will be Elvis because everyone enjoys a good music biopic movie, and it’s always entertaining to see more details behind celebrities' lives.”
