The theater program at Mooney has been around for ages. The talent hidden within the students at CMHS is phenomenal. And once again, Mooney’s actors and actresses are going to be taking to the stage; this year the spring musical will be Into the Woods.
The play is set to take stage for the first time on Friday, April 1 at 7 p.m. This will be followed by a show on Saturday, April 2, also at 7 p.m. Finally, a Sunday matinee will be on April 3 at 3 p.m. Everyone involved in this show is very excited. The cast and crew are putting in hours of work and practicing until it’s perfect. The director for this production is math teacher and guidance counselor Tina Hughes. She shared her thoughts on the students' dedication to the production. |
"The cast and crew of Into the Woods has been working hard each night, and the team of directors is always amazed by the talent we see on stage,” Hughes said. “We have students from all grade levels, who are balancing and juggling many other activities. I could not be more proud of how they are working to make this show the best one yet!"
Along with the excitement of the directors, the performers are thrilled to be part of the show. Freshman Mya Colella, who was casted as Rapunzel, has been waiting for this play since the beginning of the school year.
Colella said, “I’ve really been looking forward to this opportunity!”
The actors are not the only students hard at work. Senior Jenna Hughes is the show's technical producer; her responsibilities include running the music, managing the spotlights, and testing microphones. She will have her headset on to collaborate with junior Mitchell Bogan, the backstage manager. Jenna's excitement for the production will carry over to opening night.
"With COVID, we did not get to put a full show together," she said. "I am so excited to see everyone's talents and to see the new freshmen shine."
