A lot of mixed opinions about Hallmark movies are out there . They’re highly predictable, and they try way too hard. Many have stated that they are all the same and probably use the same sets.
“They repeat and use the same actors all the time,” sophomore Addie Kelley said.
Art teacher Sean Butler added to Kelley’s observation regarding the recycling of actors.
Butler said, “Hallmark is where the old soap opera actors go to retire.”
Sophomore Da'Veon Hugley added his point of view in regard to the basic plot formula that Hallmark movies seem to follow.
“The old best friends are always their enemy,” Hugley said.
Hallmark has obviously gotten to a point where many begin to wonder what these actors and actresses do for a living? Is creating films for Hallmark all they really wait for in their careers?
Despite all the negativity, there are always some positives. Hallmark has quite the fan base. Many do not mind the cheesiness of these movies.
Guidance Counselor Sierra Billhimer said, “I love Hallmark movies. I record them when I’m at work, so I can watch them later.”
Sophomore Leila Loveless agrees with Billhimer’s statement.
Loveless said, “I like them, they're cute, and the fall ones are my favorite.”

Hallmark has even come out with an app to set reminders to record the upcoming Christmas movies. They’re obviously fun and entertaining; how else would they still be going without a steady fan base?
It’s obvious that even though we laugh at the cringeworthy storylines and hate on the TV station, Hallmark has a special place in our hearts. The programs on the channel give off a great vibe and aesthetic throughout the year. Hallmark movies are light and happy, and they truly bring the Christmas joy that we all need.
