Prom is one of the major events for high school students. For the juniors, it is exciting because it is their first ever prom. For seniors, prom is very important because it is officially their last school dance.
This year's prom was decorated with a circus theme. The dance floor had rainbow balloons, and there was a table set up with cotton candy, popcorn and other circus themed candy. The music was good, and there was a wide variety of food options. Senior Elise Johnson said, “I was a little unsure about the circus theme, but everything came together great. Prom was a night to remember. I had so much fun dancing and hanging out with my friends. I'll never forget it." |
Furthermore, this year students got to experience the first ever promenade at Mooney. It was hosted in the school's auditorium. Family and friends were invited to come see everyone’s prom attire along with the announcement of prom court.
This year’s prince and princess were juniors John Jones and Alexandra Blohm. Prom king and queen were seniors Kevon Weaver and Leonda Whatley. Whatley said, “ Prom was so much fun, I was excited to win prom queen and enjoy myself with my friends. It was most definitely a night to remember.” Weaver agreed with Whatley’s sentiments. |
The most popular colors that were worn this year by girls were light pastels and black. The most common dress styles were mermaid glitter dresses. In addition to that, the boys wore black with pastel undershirts to match their dates’ dresses. Some other common styles were blazer jackets paired with turtlenecks under it.
This year’s prom was definitely one for the books and will remain in the juniors and seniors memories forever. |
