Everyone talks about making a summer bucket list, but it never truly gets done. So, I compiled the to-do list for you. In this article, you will find 10 of the best summer activities to complete with your friends, family, or on your own; you decide!
1. Bullet JournalingWhile this is more of a stay at home idea, even summer can be stressful, and bullet journaling is one of the best ways to relieve this summer stress. Take 15-20 minutes to write a check list, your favorite movies, or a mood tracker. This can help you get motivated once more to continue with everything else on this list! |
2. Camping TripEvery year, I go camping for a week with my friends, and while it seems stressful, it is actually incredibly fun. I’m not talking about camping in a trailer park. I’m talking about tents and cooking food over fires. Find somewhere where there's a lazy river and relax for a solid four hours. All you have to do is make sure you bring sunscreen, or you will end up like my friend, who got seriously sunburned for a week. |
3. Trampoline SleepoverIf you have a trampoline, this is a perfect summer plan. Get your friends together and have a sleepover on a trampoline. Now here's what you need for this idea: friends (obviously), blankets, pillows, snacks and drinks of your choosing, laptops/phones, fairy lights, and a positive attitude. Decorate the trampoline, watch movies, make TikToks and have fun! If no one you know has a trampoline, you can do the exact same thing, but as a normal sleepover!

4. Dress up for a non-fancy placeDo you have fancy clothes? Do you have nothing to do with them? No worries! Get a group of friends together, dress up as if you’re going to a fancy party, then go to McDonald’s. This idea gets overlooked a lot, despite the fact it seems like a lot of fun. Confuse the workers with your attire, order your food, and find a table. It’s the small ridiculous things in life that are cherished the most. This can be a fun date with your significant other as well. |
5. Have a celebrity partyYou and your friends can dress as celebrities and have a party. It's very simple and quite interesting to see what celebrities your friends will pick. This plan was all over the internet last year. You might as well bring it back if you have not hosted something similar already. |
6. Road Trip
A classic. Go with your friends or family and just drive. Go to a random location, take aesthetically pleasing photos, and get souvenirs. Everywhere you go, there's something interesting to do. You may find a tiny town with the cutest bookstores, or you might find a mural alley with many beautiful paintings. The things you find may help you for your future as well. You may find a town you’d like to live in, or you can find the place where your dream job is located. Warning: Road trips may cause fights in the car; be prepared.

7. Create wall artWall art can include everything from paintings, to photo collages, all the way to a monster can wall. These projects are simple due to the many apps that will help you along the way. For painting your wall, you can brainstorm ideas from Pinterest or Google. Obviously you can also be your own inspiration. For photo collages, you can use photos from your life, or you can go to Pinterest and print out many aesthetic photos that fit your style. There are also apps and websites such as Shutterfly and Mpix. They are specifically made to print photos for wall collages. Finally, for the monster cans, all you need is a bunch of cans to put up against your wall, creating a unique space in your room. This also works with Arizona or Peace tea cans. |
8. go to a water parkThis one is a given. Very common. Very simple. Very fun. This can also go along with the road trip idea above. Water parks are incredibly fun and refreshing. They’re one of the most common summer activities, but that does not make them a bad idea. Three of the most recommended in Ohio are Pioneer Waterland, Cortland Splash Pad, and Fun Times Fun Park. While you’re taking your summer road trip, it might be a nice idea to stop by at one of those water parks and cool off! |
9. painting
This could be any kind of painting. One trend that has been going around for this summer is painting either your legs or arms. You've probably seen it come up on your Instagram, Pinterest feed, or TikTok. For this one, you don’t need much — just paint and a brush. Also, you don’t really need to go anywhere. It's honestly just a fun activity to pass time.

10. Bikeriding/skateboarding
If you have the ability to do any of these things, they are perfect for this summer. Thankfully Youngstown is blessed with Mill Creek Park. Bike riding, longboarding, or skateboarding through the endless roads is highly calming and adventurous. You can also do this with friends and afterwards have a photo shoot. You need something for Instagram.
