Mooney Homecoming ties school together
By Olivia DeCesare
Cardinal Mooney’s Homecoming dance went off without a hitch Saturday night, Oct. 16. The dance was held at Cardinal Mooney, a new location for this event. Attendants ate and danced in the cafeteria, where Senior Savvas Pizanias’s older brother DJed.
“Out of all the school dances we’ve had so far, I think this was the first dance where the large majority of the students were dancing,” Pizanias said. “I think Peter (Pizanias’s brother and DJ) did very well, showed a lot of emotion, and matched the energy the students brought.” Sophomore Aaliyah Rivera was escorted by sophomore Elijah Williams. Rivera agreed with Pizanias about the dance’s atmosphere. “I had a lot of fun. It was a great experience, and I had the time of my life,” Rivera said. |
Based on a student vote, the dance’s theme was Hollywood Red Carpet. Red carpets lined the entrance to the cafeteria, and decorations were put up the previous night by student volunteers. Senior Grace Raymer commented about the dance’s new but old location.
“Having it at the school was a change, but it made homecoming seem more casual and comfortable, and it was fun seeing so many upper and underclassmen show up and be in one place to enjoy the evening,” Raymer said.
Senior Canfield student, Samantha Lutton, joined the fun, and remarked about Mooney’s hospitality. Lutton said, “I liked how the entire school all danced together, and didn’t really leave anyone out. There weren't really individual cliques.” Junior Jalena Harris, escorted by junior Caleb Beachum, agrees with Lutton. “We all, juniors, seniors, freshmen, and sophomores, came together and danced and laughed all night,” Harris said. “Like a true family.” |
