The time is now. The hard work of the Cardinal Mooney athletes has paid off. As the end of the school year approaches, many of the Cardinals are making athletic commitments to colleges.
For some students, signing to a college has been a dream come true. Years of dedication and discipline have been put forth toward this exact moment. There were a lot of great schools to choose from.
Making a decision on an undergraduate school comes with plenty of challenges to consider. Going away for college is a big transition for high school students. The opportunities and experiences are endless. Senior Tyrin Howell said, “ Getting signed to college was truly a dream come true. I have been preparing myself for this moment ever since I was young. I can't wait to start school.” |
The option to attend school in or out of state presents itself, along with a decision on a major and minor, room and board, etc. Some of the most common schools the seniors signed to were University of Findlay, Westminster College, Walsh University, and University of Indiana.
Senior Alyssa Rapp shared her thoughts about her commitment to Westminster college. “Getting signed to play golf was the happiest day of my life. I have been playing golf ever since I was a little kid. It's in my family, and I can't wait to see the opportunities Westminster has to offer.” |
Undoubtedly, these colleges will not be disappointed with the Cardinals' work ethic in the upcoming years.
These Mooney athletes are very excited about their futures. Senior Davontae Miller said “ I think going to college was the best thing for me because it was an opportunity to be the first in my family to go college. I've been working for this all my life, and it's honestly a dream come true! “ |
Senior Daqua Douglas said, “ I feel ready to finally move on into the next chapter in my life.” Senior Lavell Jones said, “ This is truly a blessing, and I am very excited to see what I am capable of. I’m going to prove everyone wrong that doubted me. I feel like this is a gift from God to give me an opportunity to prove myself to everyone back home, and I won’t disappoint.” |
Senior Brandon Lott said, “I have been thinking about this moment since I was younger. It's a dream come true.”
Senior Jack Desmond said, “Signing to John Carroll University is arguably one of my favorite memories. I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was to sign, and how excited I am to start playing. I’ve been dreaming about playing at the collegiate level for all my life, and now I have the opportunity to turn that dream into a reality.” |
Senior Zach Hryb said, “Hard Work and Determination pays off, and I am happy to continue playing the sport I love. I would love to thank my parents, especially, because without them I would not be where I am today.”

Senior Savvas Pizanias said, “I have been dreaming of this moment for the majority of my life, so being able to secure my future with a great school that has a very successful soccer program is just such an honor. I owe everything to my mentors, coaches, and especially all of my teammates from years past.”

Senior Cole Litman said, “It was a very exciting day for myself and my family. It ensured my future with college and my future of baseball. It was long awaited and a relief to finally make it official.”
Senior Mick Hergenrother said, “I am looking forward to taking the next step in academics and basketball. Mount Union’s nice campus is one of the major reasons I chose to go there.” Taking everything into consideration, the Mooney family is very proud of this year’s seniors for their four years of sanctity, scholarship and discipline. The amount of hard work and dedication shown by these Cardinals is noteworthy. |
