After coming off a difficult 2021 season, the Mooney boys lacrosse team is looking forward to an optimistic start. Last season, the boys went down a bumpy road, with only winning a few matches. However, they were able to smooth those bumps by defeating the Poland boys and Willoughby South. Unfortunately, they lost 5 seniors that contributed a great deal to the team. But their lineup will come back stronger with a large number of returning juniors. They will be prepared to fill the five seniors spots and to make greater contributions. There are a number of new members that joined. “Since we have various new members, we want to focus on getting them used to the new foundation, and we can get better overall as a team,” junior Phil Centofante said. “Also, we would like to win as much as possible and do better than last year.” |
Junior Antonio D’Alesio echoed Centofante’s thoughts regarding his teammates’ goals for the upcoming season. D’Alesio said, “Our goals for the season are to have fun, be able to play the game, and to represent Cardinal Mooney well.” This spring, both the returning and new players will face many challenges.. With hard work and dedication, the season will look bright for the skilled group. Junior Michael Howard expressed the team’s determination to succeed. Howard said, “We want to encourage everyone to do their best and try their hardest.” |
