Youngstown’s Cardinal Mooney High School was founded in 1956, run by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown. Starting in 1956, traditions were made by the students and staff, and this is what forms the school community. Mooney is a school of love, faith and family; what is keeping these traditions alive are the alumni. Since the Mooney family treasures love and faith, what about those who are still carrying it on through their own families?
Since it is the month of February, The Beakon is featuring a couple who are alumni high school sweethearts who would love to share their story. Bo and Mippy Pelini started dating in December 1985. Since then, they have been carrying on traditions by sending their three kids to Cardinal Mooney. The sweethearts said, “Mooney played a big role in our love story. We thought we were going to get married in high school; we were very sure in each other.” This gives people the reassurance that the spark can still be there throughout years of dating. However, the love story of Bo and Mippy Pelini is not the only couple that grew from the Mooney family. These alumni sweethearts trusted in God and faith to continue their true love of each other. Mooney has not only provided traditions, education, and friends that last a lifetime; it provides a chance to find that Mooney love! With over 20 alumni sweethearts, they are leading the way for the future of young love. Love is in the air this February, and thanks to alumni, the students have great traditions and true love stories to inspire them. |
