The sun is out! Relax and read
The Beakon. The grass is bright green, the flowers have bloomed, and Mooney students and faculty have started their countdowns. Summer is right around the corner, and The Beakon staff wants to help students have the best summer yet. To start off the summer, we encourage the Mooney family to spend as much time soaking up the sun as possible. Plan a picnic, go to a drive-in movie, and, of course, jump in the coldest water possible. This summer, students should safely spend quality time with their families doing something exciting and pleasurable. Host cookouts, have s'mores by the bonfire, and take family bike rides. The season is perfect to get families outside and in nature! Senior Steve Hiner had some thoughts about what he enjoys most about summer. Hiner said, “ I really enjoy going to the Scrappers game with my family. It’s always the perfect weather and honestly the best time with my family.” Summer brings so much joy but also gives us time to rest after the school year concludes.
Photography teacher Maureen Kandray really enjoys the summer because it brings change into our lives. “I have a different schedule in the summer and get to focus on preparing for my art shows,” Kandray said. |
Summer Activities to consider:

People often use this time to check off items on their to-do lists or to face their fears. Senior Kayla Jadue expressed that she loves this free time because she gets to finish projects she pushed back due to school.
She said, “I turn 18 in the beginning of June which is perfect because I have always wanted to go skydiving. I think it’s a fear of mine that I have been pushing to do until I was at the right age but also the right time.”
Cardinal Mooney seniors are starting a new chapter next fall, so why not do something extraordinary?
Jadue said, “I’m starting college and really pushing myself next fall, so I decided I wanted to do something out of my comfort zone.”
This summer should be filled with utter happiness and endless bliss. Cardinal Mooney encourages everyone to stay active and healthy, and have fun. The Beakon staff wishes everyone a safe and amazing summer!
