Stay covid safe: Keep your masks up.
The CDC recommends a facial covering for every social gathering, and mandates require it. Keeping yourself and others safe from COVID-19 has short-term and long-term benefits.
Wearing your mask protects you from sickness according to the CDC. Wearing a well-fitting face mask that covers your nose is the most effective way to keep yourself safe. Italian teacher Gianna Pishotti agrees. |
“The benefits are that if you were exposed to someone that had covid, you have more peace of mind that you could not have caught it. It gives you peace of mind that you were protected,” Pishotti said.
Wearing a mask does not only protect you, but it protects your friends and family. Junior Millie Heschmeyer was proud to say she wears a mask anytime she leaves the house to go into public for this sentiment. By lowering your chances of catching the virus, you lower the risk of exposing your loved ones.

Some people have loved ones that are immunocompromised, and unless explicitly told, we can never be certain. Pishotti is an example. “I personally have someone at home who is severely immunocompromised,” Pishotti said. “If they were to get COVID they would definitely die from it. I’ve had a particular personal worry about it, and to me it’s a |
very simple temporary solution for this extremely real and fatal problem. I’m so worried about it, and I’m doing my best here. If I'm going to do my best to be comfortable, it’s important for students and staff to wear masks.”
Wearing the mask isn’t difficult if you only think about who you can be saving. It also becomes easier when you envision a quicker end to the pandemic.
When everyone wears their masks, we slow the spread of COVID-19. If we work together, the pandemic can end sooner rather than later.
